Crochet 101Sunday February 2nd and 9th12:30 pm
Two 2-hour classes
Crochet is an endlessly versatile technique for making hats, scarves and sweaters, not to mention amigurumi, sculpture, and rugs. In this class we will learn all of the basics: chain, single, double and triple crochet, -2:30 increasing/decreasing, and how the basic stitches combine to form stitch patterns. With the foundation skills learned, you’ll be able to hook up a scarf, cowl, rectangular wrap, or many other simple projects.
Materials: Smooth (not bumpy or fuzzy), preferably wool yarn in a light or bright color (easier to see your stitches) in either worsted or bulky size
A crochet hook G or H for worsted, J or K for bulky

Hook a HatSunday February 16th 12:30 -3:30
One 3-hour class
A simple formula enables you to crochet hats for any size head, with any yarn, in any gauge! Learn to work in the round, from the top down, and design any shape of hat you wish. Once you understand the formula, you can sit down to crochet a hat-- without a pattern-- whenever the urge strikes. Add in different stitches, techniques, shapes and color-changing to the mix and you'll be busy hooking up a lifetime of hats for everyone you know!
Prerequisite: Students must be comfortable with their stitches (at least chain, single and double crochet).
Materials:
One skein of worsted or bulky yarn
Crochet hook: G or H hook for worsted, I or J for bulky

Papillon ShawlFebruary 22nd10:30 am - 1:30 pm
This colorful shawl will become your favorite wardrobe accessory but be warned, everyone will want you to make them one. I should know, I’m currently knitting my fourth one! It looks intimidating, but after this class you will have mastered the short rows and will understand how to read the pattern.
